Sharks Trio Named in England A Squad

Ben Bamber, Nathan Jibulu and Rekeiti Ma’asi-White have been named in a 30-player England Men’s A matchweek squad ahead of the visit of All Blacks XV on Saturday.

The Sharks trio will assemble with the squad at the University of Bath today (Monday 3rd November) ahead of the fixture at Bath’s Recreation Ground.

Head coach Mark Mapletoft has named Bristol Bears second-row forward Joe Batley as captain, while the squad features seven previously-capped senior players in Charlie Atkinson, Jamie Blamire, Ollie Hassell-Collins, Max Ojomoh, Tom Pearson, Ethan Roots and Adam Radwan.

Atkinson, Blamire, Hassell-Collins, Ojomoh and Pearson are five of 13 players with past England A matchday experience and 24 of the 30 named players have progressed from the England Men’s Player Pathway with caps for age-grade representative sides.

These include current U20 Elite Player Squad member Noah Caluori and 2024 World Rugby U20 Championship winners Afolabi Fasogbon, Angus Hall, Sean Kerr, Nathan Michelow, Vilikesa Sela and Olamide Sodeke.

The selection of the wider squad and matchday 23 is a cooperative approach made in consultation with head coach Mark Mapletoft and determined by senior men’s head coach, Steve Borthwick, and RFU Executive Director of Performance Rugby, Conor O’Shea.

Mapletoft will be supported by James Lightfoot Brown (Attack Coach), Adam Powell (Defence Coach), James Craig (Forwards Coach) and Matt Ferguson (Scrum Coach) in his coaching staff. The coaching group will work alongside key pathway and PREM Rugby Strength & Conditioning, Medical and Operational staff for the game.

England Men’s A vs. All Blacks XV will be broadcast live on Premier Sports 1, with coverage starting at 13:10 GMT.

Mapletoft, England Men’s A head coach and Head of Men’s Player Pathways, said: “We have assembled a dynamic young group of players aiming to excel whilst wearing the rose. I’d like to congratulate all selected players and staff involved.

“Ten players that represented the England A side last season progressed to make their senior debuts – these fixtures matter for the future of English Rugby.

“As evidenced in this week’s squad announcements, our connection from the age-grade and senior set-up is stronger than ever and we’re determined to continue that work over the forthcoming weeks.”

A limited number of tickets are still available to purchase for the All Blacks XV match via this link, with adult tickets starting from £25 and kids (U16) from £15. Booking fees apply.
