MATCH REPORT: Sale Sharks Women 22-64 Ealing Trailfinders Women

An uncharacteristic Sale Sharks performance at the Morson Stadium left the home side with a single bonus point as Trailfinders walked away with a 22-64 win.

Ealing started fast, and took just two minutes to score their first try as their driving maul got them over through Ponsonby. Sharks responded minutes later, their own driving maul getting to within a metre before the ball was shipped wide with Rhona Lloyd scoring her first of the game ten minutes later.

With the scores level at five a piece, Abi Burton forced her way through the defensive line and ran it in, starting a run of Ealing scores from Fran McGhie and Meg Jones before Amy Cokayne drove over just before the half hour mark.

Ealing weren’t done with the half and scores from Grace White and Julia Schell meant the teams headed in at 12-36.

Trailfinders again started fast, Carys Cox making sure the visitors started the second half how they finished the first. Rhona Lloyd responded for Sale, her second of the game a strong finish in the corner under pressure taking her tally to four in three games to start her Sale career.

However the highlight of the second half came with the return of Georgie Perris-Redding. The long-time club captain and club legend made her return to side for the first time in 16 months after injury to huge ovation from the home crowd and immediately got stuck into the action.

Trailfinders though continued to add to the scoreboard, Bradley, Inman and Schell all crossed the whitewash before Scarlett Fielding went over off the back of the driving maul to ensure Sale left with the try bonus point as the teams finished round three with the scoreline 22-64.

Sharks fans still have plenty more rugby before Christmas with games against Exeter and Saracens coming up. Tickets for both are on sale now and available here
