SHARKS TO SIGN IRELAND STAR

Sale Sharks Women have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Ireland back row forward Brittany Hogan from the start of 2026.

The 27-year-old starred as Ireland reached the quarter-finals of the recent Women’s World Cup but an injury picked up in the last eight defeat to France has meant she hasn’t played since.

Now almost back to full fitness, the 38-cap international, who made her Ireland debut during the 2020 Women’s Six Nations, will arrive in Manchester on January 1st to join Tom Hudson’s squad.

Brittany said: “For the past couple of years I’ve been looking across the water and thinking that I’d love to play in the PWR. Then I played in the World Cup and that really whetted my appetite for trying something new.

“The PWR is an incredible league with some of the best players in the world and I’m confident that moving to Sale is the best thing for my rugby career.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with this group. They look like a group who fight for each other and are desperate to work hard to build something really special.

“It’s exciting to be joining a club at the start of its development and I can’t wait to get involved and help the team.”

Brittany will have one familiar face when she arrives at Carrington – she has played plenty of rugby with Sale back and fellow Ireland international Vicky Irwin.

She added: “I’ve known Vicky for a long time and it’ll be great to have a familiar face to bounce off and have that comfort away from home. I’m really excited to play with her again.”

Sharks Women’s Head Coach Tom Hudson said: “As we continue to strengthen and build our squad we knew we needed an experienced no 8.

“It’s not often that when you come out of these meetings with a few names you get the number one target on your list so we are very excited for her to come and join us and prove everyone at that table right.”

Sale Sharks Women are back in action at the Morson Stadium this Saturday against Exeter Chiefs and tickets are available here.
