SALE SHARKS FOUNDATION GENERATES MORE THAN £11M IN SOCIAL VALUE, REPORT FINDS
Sale Sharks Foundation has published its first-ever Social Value Impact Report, revealing that its programmes and community work across the North West generated more than £11 million in social value across 2024 and 2025.
Independently assessed by multi-award-winning consultancy Collins McHugh, the report measures the impact of the Foundation’s delivery across its three core areas: rugby development, community inclusion and education.
The report highlights how the Foundation’s programmes create positive, measurable change in people’s lives and communities by improving physical and mental wellbeing, building confidence and skills, strengthening social connections and creating opportunities across the region.
It also demonstrates how the Foundation’s work supports local priorities in Trafford and the wider North West, reinforcing the charity’s role in addressing community needs and delivering lasting social impact.

In addition, the assessment found that Sale Sharks Foundation delivers a Social Return on Investment (SROI) of £11.91 for every £1 invested. This demonstrates how organisations partnering with the Foundation can create measurable social value while helping to build stronger, healthier and more resilient communities.
Jack Leech, Interim CEO of Sale Sharks Foundation, said:
“We’re delighted to publish our first Social Value Impact Report, which demonstrates the scale and significance of the impact our Foundation is having across the North West.
“Generating more than £11 million in social value and delivering £11.91 for every £1 invested is a fantastic achievement. However, the real story lies behind the figures. It’s about the lives changed, the opportunities created and the communities strengthened through our work.
“Whether through rugby development, community inclusion or education programmes, we see every day how our work brings people together, builds confidence and helps individuals reach their potential.
“None of this would be possible without the commitment and support of our staff, trustees, partners, supporters and the wider Sale Sharks family, and I’d like to thank them all for the role they play in helping us create a positive impact.
“I’d also like to thank Collins McHugh for their expertise and support in measuring and evidencing the value we create across the region.”
Barry Collins, Managing Director at Collins McHugh, said:
“We were delighted to collaborate with Sale Sharks Foundation to produce its first Social Value Impact Report. Throughout the project, it was clear that creating meaningful and lasting change for people and communities across the North West sits at the heart of the Foundation’s approach to delivery.
“The social value generated reflects the impressive breadth and depth of the Foundation’s work, using the power of rugby and the Sale Sharks brand to create opportunities, improve lives and support communities. This impact is a testament to the dedication of the Foundation’s staff and their shared commitment to making a positive difference both on and off the pitch.
“Sale Sharks Foundation is a real asset to communities across the North West, and we look forward to seeing its impact continue to grow in the years ahead.”
