Sale Sharks Women sign powerful back-row forward Sharifa Kasolo

The 27-year-old, who has featured in England training squads, has signed a two-year deal and has joined up with Tom Hudson’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Sharifa first played rugby while at university in Loughborough. She combined her time at university with playing for Blackheath RFC in the Women’s Championship before being spotted during a game for a representative Kent team.

She joined Saracens at the start of the 2022/23 season and a series of eye-catching performances saw her named as the club’s Players’ Player of the Season. In total she made 49 appearances for Saracens, scoring 12 tries.

She was first called into the Red Roses training squad in September 2023 but is yet to make her England debut.

Sharifa said: “From the outside, the club looks like a really tight knit club, with great energy, where everyone works hard for each other.

“It seems like the start of a new era for the club and I’m really looking forward to working with the new coaching team and seeing what we can achieve together.

“I’m sure they’ll be really motivated to build something special and hopefully I, and the other new players, can add to that by bringing energy to the group along with new ideas and the experience that we’ve had in successful environments.”

Sharks Women Head Coach Tom Hudson said: “I haven’t worked with Sharifa before but I know she’s someone who will bring real leadership to our group.

“She’s captained Saracens before and she’s an international quality player. She’s coming to us from a really successful environment and we’re excited to see what she can bring.”
