England international hooker Amy Cokayne joined Sale Sharks Women from Leicester Tigers in the summer of 2025.

Amy, who holds the position of Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force, joined Tigers from Harlequins, having previously played for Wasps.

Born in England, Amy moved to New Zealand when she was just nine years old, as her father had a job in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

While in New Zealand, she took up rugby for the first time, starting out in the centres and making her way slowly forward before ending up in the front-row, where she captained Fielding High School (a talent factory that has also produced New Zealand 7s captain Sarah Goss, as well as All Blacks Aaron Smith and Sam Whitelock) to a record 53 games unbeaten.

Amy made her international debut for England against Italy in 2015, and scored her maiden senior try against Canada in the 2015 Rugby Super Series.

She played in every game at her first Women's Rugby World Cup in 2017, and that same year, scored five tries during the 2017 Six Nations, making her the second highest try-scorer in the tournament.

In September 2019 she was awarded a full-time England contract and went on to be an integral figure in the squad that made the final of the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup.

Amy featured in the Red Roses’ title-winning campaigns in the 2023 Six Nations and later in the inaugural WXV1 tournament in New Zealand.
