Sale Sharks Foundation is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a £60,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation.
The grant will support the Foundation’s core operating costs, helping to strengthen essential functions and streamline overheads.
By reinforcing core functions, the Foundation can continue prioritising and delivering high‑quality Rugby Development, Community Inclusion and Education programmes in communities across the North West.
Abi Dean, CEO of Sale Sharks Foundation, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation for their generous support. Funding towards our core operating costs is vital in ensuring we can continue to deliver our impactful work across our communities.
“Donations and grants from organisations like the Garfield Weston Foundation play a significant role in helping us grow and strengthen our services, and we hope this marks the beginning of a long‑standing relationship.”
The Garfield Weston Foundation is a family founded grant-maker supporting charities operating in a wide variety of sectors across the UK that make a positive difference within their communities.
Established by W. Garfield Weston in 1958 through an endowment of shares in the family business – now known as Associated British Foods plc – the Foundation continues to be guided by the Weston Family. The Trustees, each of whom are direct descendants of the founder, play an active, informed role in its work.
This successful model has ensured that its charitable donations have grown as the businesses have grown, enabling the Garfield Weston Foundation to award grants totalling nearly £1.7 billion since its establishment. The most recent financial year 2024-2025 saw the Foundation give away almost £130 million to 2,967 charities.
Sale Sharks Foundation would like to extend its sincere thanks to the Garfield Weston Foundation for recognising the value of our work.
