The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Assistant Groundskeeper & Maintenance Operative to join our Operations team at our Carrington training facility. This is a key role supporting the preparation and upkeep of our rugby pitches and ensuring the wider site is maintained to high professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Grounds & Pitch Maintenance
- Work as part of the groundskeeping team to maintain and prepare training pitches
- Ensure pitches are ready for use in line with training and fixture schedules
- Mow, line-mark and maintain rugby pitches to optimum standards
- Operate and maintain grounds equipment including mowers, trimmers and line markers
- Maintain pitch-side equipment (goalposts, flags, post protectors)
- Prepare pitches for play, including installing and removing equipment
- Keep pitches and surrounding grounds clear of litter and debris
Facilities & Site Maintenance
- General site maintenance including painting, basic repairs, and cleaning
- Take and manage deliveries
- Ensure equipment is used correctly, maintained, and daily paperwork completed
- Report faults promptly and accurately
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Qualified groundskeeper with relevant experience
- Strong practical knowledge of pitch management and maintenance
- Positive, flexible, and can-do attitude
- Good communication skills
- Basic understanding of health & safety and risk assessments
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks based on schedules and weather
- Team player, able to work collaboratively as part of a two-person team
Desirable
- Experience working with a variety of stakeholders
- Proactive mindset with high attention to standards and detail
