Northern Force is a heritage, education and community engagement project celebrating Sale Sharks’ 20th anniversary of European and domestic success. It takes sporting heritage and rugby-inspired experiences into local schools, care homes and to the wider Sale Sharks community.
Made possible with grant funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage, our Northern Force project will deliver a series of pop-up exhibitions, a family heritage programme, reminiscence sessions, and engage with school pupils across Stockport, Salford and Trafford.

From spotlighting the club’s players during that period of success in 2005 and 2006 – via podcasts and features – to exploring what life was like in Trafford in the 1860s when Sale FC was formed, the project brings people together to learn more about heritage and celebrate important milestones in Sale Sharks history.

About The National Lottery Heritage Fund:
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
