MURDO FORSYTHE

At the SALE SHARKS FOUNDATION, we’re committed to using the power of rugby to create positive change. Over the past two years alone, we’ve impacted the lives of over 30,000 people through our programs focusing on education, inclusivity, employability, mental health and grassroots Rugby development. From supporting young people to achieve their potential to promoting healthy lifestyles, our work has touched communities across Greater Manchester and beyond.

In a heartwarming display of dedication and community spirit, a devoted Sale Sharks fan – Murdo Forsythe – has taken extraordinary steps to support the runners participating in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday, May 18th. This super fan, inspired by the sheer number of participants and the announcement of a dedicated Sale Sharks Cheering Section, has crafted custom shark fins for the runners to wear on their backs. These fins will not only make the runners easily identifiable on the course but also help spread the word about the Sale Sharks brand.

In her own words, she shares her journey and passion for sport:

“Sport has always been a big part of our family life, with all our free time taken up with taekwondo training, canoeing, or watching rugby. Our working lives also involved sport, from pro-level to NHS rehab roles.

Later, this went on pause, following a significant accident that led to Keira having an extended period indoors. During that time, a ‘look forward’ aim was that we would go to a live rugby match and experience sport again. Superb support from the sport community was a big part in making that happen. We eventually got to a Sale Sharks game and Keira is now involved in disability sport development.

That first match was the start of Sale Sharks getting ‘under our skin,’ with one warm South Stand welcome, leading to season tickets and away days being ‘what we do as a family.’ The Northern community spirit on the pitch was part of that, but key for us is how that extends off the pitch. This Club and Foundation have such a genuine approach to sport as a positive power for inclusion. They do so much for so many, that we wanted to give back. Making the shark fins for the 10K Sharks runners was a way to be able to support.”

This incredible gesture exemplifies the strong bond between the Sale Sharks community and its fans. The custom shark fins will undoubtedly add a unique flair to the event and showcase the unwavering support of the Sale Sharks family. Let’s cheer on our runners and celebrate the spirit of community and inclusion that defines the Sale Sharks Foundation. πŸ¦ˆπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Also worth mentioning, we will be having our very first ever Sale Sharks Cheering zone on course. Come on down with your flags, hats, scarves and make as much noise as you would at the stadium and let’s make a Sale Sharks Family atmosphere.

Please join us in supporting all of our runners on our communal page where our very own Byron McGuigan will be representing the Sale Sharks Foundation as our ambassador. Help us reach our fundraising target. Any contribution would go a long way in supporting the Sale Sharks Foundation to allow us to continue our amazing community programs.
