Versatile forward Cobus Wiese signed for Sale Sharks ahead of the 2020/21 season from South African side the DHL Stormers.
The brother of Springbok international Jasper Wiese, 6ft 6in Cobus is equally at home at either at flanker or lock.
Cobus started his professional rugby career in 2016 with the Cape Town-based Western Province and his performances earned him a place in the South Africa U20 squad for that year’s World Cup, in Manchester. During that tournament he played one game at the AJ Bell Stadium.
Cobus was included in the Stormers squad ahead of the 2017 Super Rugby season and made his Super Rugby debut in their round five match against Japanese side The Sunwolves.
He joined Sharks ahead of the 2020/2021 season after interest from a host of Premiership clubs.
