Winger Obi Ene joined Sale on a three year deal in 2023 after being spotted playing for England’s U20s side.
Born in Leeds, Obi started his rugby journey at the age of nine when he joined Leodensians Rugby Club. At age 16 he moved to Roundhegians Rugby Club and then joined the Yorkshire Carnegie Academy.
That folded during the Covid pandemic and Obi was left without a club. But in December 2022, he was invited to train with Sale and made such an impression he was awarded a long term contract the following year.
Obi combined his rugby with studying for an Accounting and Finance student at Newcastle University Business School before going full-time at Sale in 2024/25.
He made his Sharks debut in the 2023/24 Prem Rugby Cup but his four tries in a cup game against Caldy the following season propelled him into the limelight.
During the 2024/25 season he spent time on loan at Doncaster Knights and Sale FC.
