Born and raised in Edinburgh, dynamic winger Rhona Lloyd joined Sale Sharks Women in the summer of 2025 from French side Les Lionnes du Stade Bordelais.

Her rugby journey began at Tynecastle High School, after former international Sarah Quick sparked her love for the sport at a taster session. Rhona made an impression straight away, captaining Murrayfield Wanderers U18 to victory in the Brewin Dolphin Cup and representing Scotland Women U19 and U20 in sevens during the 2013/14 season.

Rhona made her full international debut against England in the 2016 Six Nations opener at Broadwood Stadium, and scored her first international try against Ireland in the final game of the tournament. Since then she has gone on to win more than 50 caps for her country.

Domestically, Rhona represented Loughborough Lightning in the PWR, where she was described as a “try-scoring sensation” by former England captain, Sarah Hunter, after scoring 10 tries in just six league appearances. In 2021 she moved to France.

In 2022, Rhona was selected as part of Bryan Easson’s Rugby World Cup squad, leading to a dual-contract between Scotland and GB Sevens.

Off the pitch, Lloyd co-hosts the podcast “Women Who Sport,” with fellow Scot, Sarah Bonar, aiming to inspire and empower female athletes. She is also an advocate for body positivity, sharing her experiences to encourage others to embrace strength and athleticism.
