Imposing forward Rouban Birch played junior rugby for Stockport, Wilmslow and Lymm and came to the Sharks Academy after finishing his studies at Sedbergh, where Bevan Rodd and former Sharks Cam Redpath and Sam Moore were among his peers.
Standing at 6’4”, Rouban began his rugby life as a winger but made the switch to the second row at under-15 level.
Rouban hails from Stockport and grew up watching Sharks’ games at Edgeley Park prior to the club’s move west to the AJ Bell Stadium in 2012.
He said: “I was there when Will Addison scored the final Sharks’ try at the venue against Quins. There was a massive pitch invasion at the end: I’m afraid to say I was part of it!”
Despite his imposing frame, Rouban has a softer side. He’s at home with his three dogs and his favourite musical tastes are from the Disney films including Lion King and Tarzan.
He made his debut for the Sharks first team against Worcester Warriors in the Premiership Rugby Cup in October, 2018.
