Rising female rugby stars watch Sale Sharks in action, thanks to tickets donated by Printerland

A women’s rugby side rising through the ranks of the female game celebrated their league title success by watching Sale Sharks in action at the AJ Bell Stadium, thanks to free tickets from Printerland.

Players and staff from Sale 1861, a side for female players set up by both Sale Sharks and Sale FC, watched on as Sharks beat London Irish on Friday evening in the Gallagher Premiership.

It followed their emphatic 67-3 win over Preston Grasshopper’s Women’s Team to become National Challenge 1 Champions with a number of games to spare, and a quarter-final win away at Bishop Auckland in the Intermediate Ladies Cup.

Aoife McKenna, Sale 1861 captain, said: “A league title with a few games to go is such a testament to the collection of talented and hardworking players in this club.

“This was one of our goals, and to achieve it has given us all a massive boost to continue on with our standards and positive ethos. On behalf of all the girls in the club I would like to thank everyone who stood behind us and supported us the season so far”.

Mark Cueto, Sale Sharks Commercial Director, added: “Everyone at Sale Sharks was pleased to be a part of Sale 1861’s well-deserved celebrations on Friday evening. To win the league with matches to spare is an incredible achievement at any level and shows the strength of the women’s game is continuing to grow.

“Sale Sharks helped to establish the team as part of our commitment to making rugby a game for everyone, and thanks to Printerland’s generous donation of tickets we were able to celebrate another milestone with them at the AJ Bell Stadium.”

The clubs were given the match tickets by Altrincham-based firm, Printerland, a key club sponsor and the UK’s largest reseller of printers, ink cartridges and toners.

The donation was part of Printerland’s ongoing commitment to inclusiveness and a wider initiative that aims to introduce new audiences to the game of rugby.
