KEIGHT WINS WALES PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Sale Sharks Women centre Courtney Keight has been named Wales Women’s Player of the Year by the Welsh Rugby Writers’ Association (image supplied by Huw Evans Agency).
Keight has established herself as a key figure in the Wales midfield over the past year, earning recognition for a series of impressive performances on the international stage.
The 28-year-old featured in all of Wales’ Six Nations matches this year after starting three games at the 2025 Rugby World Cup, further cementing her place in Sean Lynn’s side.
Her versatility has also been a major asset, with Keight capable of operating across the backline. She is set to line up at outside centre for Wales’ WXV opener against South Africa.
The award caps a standout period for the Sharks back, who joined Sale ahead of the 2025/26 PWR season following five seasons with Bristol Bears.
Keight only began playing rugby while studying at Swansea University in 2016, going on to represent Swansea Whites and Ospreys before making her Wales debut in 2019.
Speaking after receiving the award, Keight said the recognition was a reflection of the work she has put into her career.
“It’s such a nice feeling to know that if you work hard, you can get to where you want to go,” she said “Going to university I knew I wanted to try something different and be in an environment where I was challenged and accepted – rugby was exactly that”.
While Courtney prepares for South Africa this weekend, the rest of her Sharks teammates will be lining up for the first JAECOO Next Gen Cup game. The side will run out at the Morson Stadium on Saturday at 2pm against Loughborough Lightning, with tickets still available here.
