TEAM NEWS: SALE SHARKS WOMEN v LOUGHBOROUGH LIGHTNING
Your Sale Sharks Women get their season up and running with a home fixture in the JAECOO PWR Next Gen Cup and Head Coach Tom Hudson has handed out eight debuts for the visit of Loughborough Lightning.
New signings Freya Aucken and Lizzie Goulden start in a back line that also features recent Red Roses call-up Sophie Hopkins and co-captain Lizzie Duffy.
Pathway graduates Harriet Thompson-Ogden and Georgina Holmes will make their debuts in a pack that contains Sharks stalwarts Tysh Harper and Nick James.
Tom Hudson has picked a front row with a mix of youth and experience as Thompson-Ogden packs down between Harper and James.
There’s a familiar look to the second row as Iona Antwis teams up with Charlotte Fray and in the back row, Katie Childs starts at blindside flanker with Holmes at openside and co-captain Sharifa Kasolo at number eight.
Amy Relf is the scrum-half with Duffy at fly-half and they’ll have Laura Perrin and the experience of new recruit Goulden outside them in the centres.
The Sharks Head Coach has picked an explosive back-three with wingers Hopkins and Holly Thorpe joined by former Harlequin Aucken.
New signing Kendall Waudby, pathway graduate Lotte Peirsegaele and Sophie Benavent are the front row replacements with Polly Bowman, Milly Hyndman and another pathway graduate, Maggie Graham, covering the rest of the forwards.
Scrum-half Spencer Boldt, who has been playing at Sale FC, and Vicky Irwin make up the rest of the bench.
