Sale Sharks Women announce the signing of USA Women Eagles International

Sale Sharks Women have announced the latest in a wave of signings, as they confirm USA Women Eagles International Jessica Wooden will join the club for the 20/21 season.

Jessica brings both international experience to Sale Sharks, but also lots of Tyrrells Premier 15s experience having played for Harlequins Women and Richmond FC Women in the competition.

Sharks Women’s Head of Rugby Darren Lamon said:

“We are delighted that Jessica will be joining us, she is a quality versatile back three player who has a very strong running and kicking game.  Having Jessica’s experience and ability alongside an incredibly talented young group of players, will help us as a squad to be competitive from the start of the season, and beyond.

What really excites me about Jessica is her desire to be a part of this new group and drive us forward in everything we do, both on and off the field.  She has been capped for the USA 13 times, and played in the 2017 World Cup, along with several years in the Tyrrells Premier 15s competition.  We are all pleased she has chosen to join us at Sale Sharks”.

Upon signing, Jessica said:

“I’m excited to join the Sale Sharks Women for the upcoming Tyrrells Premier 15s season. It will be a great opportunity to be a part of the group that sets the foundation for the culture and success of the club moving forward. I am also looking forward to playing with some of the young talent that the North West has to offer”.

Darren went on to add:

“Considering today’s times, we are really happy with how the squad is building ahead of next season, with the blend of International players and North West talent.  More announcements will be made next week on some North West women who will be playing for the Sharks next season.  Information has been sent out earlier this week in regard to the Sale Sharks Women’s preseason trials/open training sessions and it’s been really positive to see the amount of high quality players who have expressed an interest in representing Sale Sharks Women.  Even more encouraging is the amount of young local talent that want to be involved – I look forward to seeing lots of the best players in the North West taking part in the sessions and hopefully going on the represent Sale Sharks Women in the future”.
