SALE SHARKS WOMEN SAY GOODBYE TO ANGY
Pete Anglesea has stepped away from his coaching role with Sale Sharks Women to focus on his ambassadorial role with the club.
A former Sharks skipper and Premiership winner, ‘Angy’ joined Sale as a player in 1998 and was in the side that ran out for the club’s first game as Sale Sharks in 1999. He went on to spend 17 years on the men’s coaching team, including a spell as Head Coach, before joining the women’s team as Forwards Coach in November 2024.
In his ambassadorial role, Angy will head out across the North West with grassroots clubs, sponsors and the wider Sharks community. The key focus will be young people: introducing children and families to Sale Sharks and the game of rugby and helping build the next generation of Sharks players and supporters as we extend rugby’s reach across the region.
Head of Women’s Rugby, Katy Daley-McLean, said: “When you look at the service Pete has given across the club I don’t think there is anyone who can match that. He’ll be sorely missed but we’ll still see his face around and we wish him all the best.”

Anglesea said “I’m looking forward to helping inspire the next generation, encouraging more young people to get involved in rugby and bringing them closer to Sale Sharks. We want youngsters to feel that this is their club, to come along on matchdays, experience the atmosphere and see a pathway from their local club or school all the way to the first team”
Luke Stratford now steps up from Scrum Coach to Forwards Coach as the team prepare for their first ever semi-final, away at Trailfinders on 31st October in the JAECOO Next Gen Cup, before opening the new JAECOO PWR season at home to Gloucester Hartpury on 21st November.
