JOB TITLE: – U18s Lead Academy Coach

THE ROLE: To lead the U18 & 17s Sale Sharks Academy squad and assist with the U16 academy programmes as well as EAP registered players.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with developing players and have a specialism of coaching Forwards.

The full time role will be based at the 1st XV training base in Carrington, along with time spent at our college affiliate Myerscough and supporting other Academy players through the schools network.

REPORTS TO: -Academy Manager.

KEY TASKS:-

Planning, delivery and assessment of all U18 & 17 Junior Academy player pathways and programmes.

Lead, implement & review Individual Development Plans for all players throughout the Junior Academy and liaise with all relevant stakeholders.

Observe and track the progress of Sale Sharks developing England Academy Players whilst working in partnership with England academy coaches to develop them for national teams.

Carry out pre, mid and post season reviews with players in association with Academy Manager, and other associated Staff.

Provide specialist coaching support as appropriate across all academy programmes.

Support and help deliver parts of the AASE Rugby programme in conjunction with staff at Myerscough College.

Maintain, support and develop relationships with Sharks Academy’s partner schools.

Assist with the identification and recruitment of players from within the Sale Sharks region.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To work unsociable hours to include bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends if required

To undertake any other duties as requested by management that is commensurate with the job title

Essential:

  • RFU Level 3 or above coaching certificate.
  • 2-3 years experience
  • Current RFU DBS Holder
  • Valid Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • RFU Level 4 coaching certificate
  • Experience in developing players in an academy or school setting.
