RFU Disciplinary Update – JP Du Preez

JP Du Preez of Sale Sharks appeared before an online independent disciplinary panel last night (Tuesday 8 June 2021). 

He was cited by independent citing commissioner Shaun Gallagher, following the match between Sale Sharks and Harlequins on Friday 4 June 2021. This was for striking with the elbow, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.12. The incident took place in the 58th minute of the match.

Du Preez accepted the charge and was given a three-week suspension by the independent disciplinary panel comprising Ian Unsworth QC (chair), with Becky Essex and Rob Vickerman. His free to play date will be determined by Sale’s confirmed fixture list.

JP Du Preez will miss the following  matches:

  • 12 June – Exeter Chiefs v Sale Sharks
  • 18/19 June – Gallagher Premiership Rugby semi-final v TBC
  • 26 June – Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final v TBC*

 *If Sale Sharks don’t reach the Premiership Final then Du Preez will miss the next meaningful fixture.
