DU PREEZ SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION

Sale Sharks fly-half Rob du Preez has signed a new deal keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The versatile 30-year-old, who has made 134 appearances for the club and scored almost 800 points, took up an option of an additional two years in 2023.

But now he has signed an extension to his contract meaning he and brothers Jean-Luc and Dan are now committed to the club for two more seasons.

Rob said: “I’m massively excited to be a part of this group for the next two seasons. I was already committed for next season, but when I was offered an extra year it was an easy decision. My wife and I have loved our time in Manchester.

“I truly believe that with the group of players we have going forward, we have what it takes to win something in the next couple of years, and to be a part of that is really exciting.

“I look forward to making more memories on and off the field with Sale Sharks and in Manchester.”

Rob started his career with the Western Province and the Stormers in Cape Town, making 57 appearances over four years, scoring 483 points.

He then went on to join the Cell-C Sharks in Durban at the start of the 2018 season, where he won the Currie Cup under the tutelage of his father Rob Snr, before spending a short time on loan with Sale in the Gallagher Premiership at the end of the year.

The following year, 6’4” Robert signed a permanent deal with Sale Sharks and has gone on to become a key member of Alex Sanderson’s squad.

Rob Jnr won his first cap for South Africa against Wales in a test played in Washington DC in 2018.
