MATCH PREVIEW – Sale Sharks Women v Saracens Women

SALE SHARKS WOMEN FACE SARACENS WOMEN AT THE CORPACQ STADIUM IN A RESCHEDULED ROUND NINE OF THE ALLIANZ PREMIER 15S THIS SATURDAY (KO 2.30PM)

Katy Daley Mclean said she is aware of the threats posed by Saracens Women as her side prepare to host the league leaders in a rescheduled fixture this weekend.

Sharks were due to play Saracens in round nine of the Allianz Premier 15s before Christmas, however that game was postponed due to a Covid outbreak in the London camp.

Katy said: “This weekend against Saracens we are just going to focus on us and the areas of the game we want to keep improving on.

“They are a very good and dangerous side and that’s something we are very aware of.”

Saracens have had a strong campaign so far this season and sit five points clear at the top of the table with a perfect away record.

Leading try-scorer Poppy Cleall starred for the side away to Loughborough last weekend, the No 8 scoring twice in an omnipresent performance away to Loughborough Lightening.

Sharks last faced Saracens in the Allianz Cup in November where a struggling set piece allowed the London side to pin Sharks in their half for much of the game.

In comparison however, Sharks put in a highly credible performance at the set piece against Gloucester-Hartpury last weekend and, having been only 5-0 down at the break, will be looking to bring a similar level of control into the game this weekend.

Katy said: “Gloucester was our most competitive 80 minutes all season.

“Our set piece went well and we created a host of opportunities we just didn’t capitalise on them.”
