MATCH PREVIEW – Sale Sharks v Worcester Warriors

Alex Sanderson has named his squad to face Steve Diamond’s Worcester Warriors in round 16 of the Gallagher Premiership (KO 3pm, Saturday 12th February)

Alex Sanderson said he and Steve Diamond were “non-playing characters” in his side’s fixture against the returning Sharks DoR’s Worcester Warriors.

Alex said: “We’re on the periphery of this game which involves 26 players, and that’s how it should be really. It ends on the park.

“I’m sure there will be no kind words pre-kick off, but I hope to have a beer with him afterwards.”

Sharks have won their last three consecutive Gallagher Premiership fixtures and in an emphatic victory against reigning champions Harlequins last weekend were bolstered by the return of Manu Tuilagi and Faf de Klerk.

Alex said: “Manu and Faf, immediate off the bench. Immediate impact they had those two. As I’ve said many times before, it isn’t just what they’re doing on the park, it’s the impact they have off it.

“We are finding a bit of form and the moment you find form and think it’s just about maintaining it is the moment it starts to slide. We’ve talking about improving constantly. Continuously improving, that’s been the focus for us this week.”

Worcester defeated Sharks at Sixways 27-14 in round seven earlier this season but – excluding 2019-20 when they were awarded away victory – have never achieved a season double over Shark and are 19 games without away victory in the Premiership.

Sharks are yet to be defeated by Warriors at the AJ Bell Stadium in all competitions.
