Sale Sharks can confirm that tighthead prop James Harper will leave the club at the end of the current season.

The 25-year-old joined the Sharks Academy from Southport RUFC and became Shark #334 when he made his debut for the club as a replacement in the Prem against London Irish in March 2021.
Born in Liverpool, James first started to play rugby when he joined Merchant Taylors’ School in year seven.
Having developed a passion for the sport, he climbed up through the school teams, eventually finding himself in the school’s 1st XV. His form at junior level led to England U18 recognition.
James has played 72 times for Sale since his debut, scoring three tries. This season he has featured 12 times from the start and a further six times as a replacement.

James said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time at Sale. It’s where I’ve been all of my professional career and I owe the club a lot.
“The club has felt like home and I’m going to miss everyone, but now feels like a good time to embrace a new challenge.
“I’ve very grateful for the owners, and all of the coaches and players who’ve helped me along the way at Sale, as well as the amazing fans we have who have supported us all the way.”
