Versatile forward Vicky E Irwin was a late convert to rugby, first picking up the oval ball at the age of 18 while at Liverpool Hope University.
Originally from Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, she quickly fell in love with the game and played club rugby for Ormskirk, Sefton and Crewe and Nantwich.
Vicky, who is not to be confused with teammate Vicky A Irwin, was an original Shark, joining the playing staff when Sale Sharks Women was formed in 2020.
She’s been a regular in the side ever since, turning out in both the second row and across the back row.
But her story with Sale Sharks goes back further than that. She joined the Sale Sharks Foundation in 2015 before being appointed as the club’s Brand and Community Manager in 2022.
Yet to be called up by Ireland, Vicky did play provincial rugby for Ulster, and played at the Kingspan and Sports Ground in 2015.
When she’s not playing rugby, she can be found walking her dog Dexter, gin tasting or playing the part of the ‘Carrington ghost’.
